We are currently implementing our reading campaign which started a year ago. While the project was received with enthusiasm by the schools and teachers and continues to make strides in terms of enrollment and helping children learn to read, it is challenged by the lack of resources needed to sustain it. Currently the project is operating with the support of volunteers who can only commit a limited amount of time per week to the project. This means the number of children enrolled in the program has been affected in that while the project continues to accept children into the program, they have had to wait to start until the needed resources are available. Second the quality of instruction is also at risk as volunteers can only spend a fraction of the time required to produce the desired quality of results.
As the year closes, we are redesigning our online fundraising strategy to incorporate new methodologies that will help attract the resources needed to support the project financially and see it through fruition. We are also encouraging previous donors to consider renewing their commitment to supporting this important work. Without their support we could not have gotten this far and we hope we can rely on them to help bring the joy and power of reading to poor and disadvantaged children.
