Since the start of the new school year in February, public and private schools have opened their doors again for face-to-face classes. This year, CasaSito is offering various enrichment activities and workshops such as debate, theatre of the oppressed, art, English, dance and Frisbee, amongst others, in order to motivate our scholars and offer options to socialize, engage, boost their mental health and allow them to continue developing their personal and artistic skills. Our activities are a key step for the continuity and recovery of the post-pandemic effects and allow interaction and strengthening of social and emotional skills, such as empathy, communication, confidence, self-care, and conflict resolution.
Scholars have mentioned that they feel more confident and happy when participating in CasaSito’s recreational activities. Being able to express themselves freely in a safe space they call their second home, being creative and physically active, is helping them to overcome difficult family situations and reducing their stress level.
In addition, our staff has seen an increase of the academic performance, positive behavioral changes and a boost of the self-esteem of the majority of our scholars and their families.
