Our extracurricular clubs reinforce learnings, skills, and relaxation techniques for each's students development in their school, family, and social environment. In Sacatepequez we have filled 8 clubs: art, Theater of the Oppressed, English, debate, math/accounting, dance, mentoring, and frisbee sports. We have three new teachers, including Eli Valle (junior high math), Sergio Marroquin (high school math tutoring), and Barri Golwasser Paxtor (dance).
We are excited to mention that our frisbee coordinator, Hector Chocoy, will attend an international clinic/tryout for "ultimate frisbee" in Colombia at the end of March, on his own initiative. A big thanks to Chris Gwinner and other private support to make this exciting opportunity a reality for Hector!
In Alta Verapaz we have started three clubs: English, art, and math/accounting, with our other clubs starting later in the year. In these three clubs we have two new teachers: Mario Pop (art) and Cristian Chacoj Laj (math).
