One Child, One Future: Educate to Liberate

We are delighted to share another important milestone under our One Child, One Future: Educate to Liberate project. Children at St. Bernard Mwenge Primary School have successfully received new school uniforms, bringing joy, confidence, and renewed hope to many young learners.
For many children from vulnerable families, a school uniform is much more than a piece of clothing. It gives them a sense of dignity, promotes equality among their classmates, and allows them to attend school feeling clean, smart, and confident. Wearing a proper uniform also encourages regular school attendance, active participation in class, and a stronger sense of belonging within the school community.
This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our donors and the unwavering support of the GlobalGiving community. Every contribution, regardless of its size, has made a meaningful difference in the lives of these children and their families.

Good Cause Foundation Uganda, through its One Child, One Future: Educate to Liberate initiative, successfully conducted a Biology Seminar at Sironko High School in Sironko, Uganda, on 24 July 2026.

The seminar brought together 200 learners and was organized purposely to strengthen students' understanding and performance in Biology and other science-related subjects.

The initiative recognizes the important role of science education in equipping young people with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and practical understanding needed to pursue further education and contribute to the social and economic development of their communities.

2. Objectives

The Biology Seminar aimed to:

• Improve learners' understanding of Biology and key scientific concepts.
• Strengthen learners' interest and confidence in studying science subjects.
• Provide learners with additional academic guidance and support.
• Encourage students to develop effective study habits and approaches to learning Biology.
• Help learners connect classroom knowledge with real-life applications of science.
• Motivate students to pursue science-related education and career opportunities.

3. Activity Implementation

The seminar was conducted in an interactive and learner-centered environment, allowing students to actively participate in the learning process.

The session focused on helping learners strengthen their understanding of Biology, clarify challenging concepts, and develop a more positive attitude toward science education. Students were encouraged to ask questions, participate in discussions, and engage with the facilitators throughout the seminar.

The activity also provided an opportunity for learners to receive academic motivation and guidance on the importance of consistent study, discipline, and active participation in their education.

4. Key Results and Achievements

The Biology Seminar successfully achieved the following:

• 200 learners directly participated in the seminar.
• Learners received additional academic support in Biology.
• Students gained increased confidence and motivation to study science subjects.
• Learners were encouraged to develop stronger interest in Biology and science education.
• The seminar created an interactive platform for students to ask questions and strengthen their understanding of challenging topics.
• Students were motivated to recognize the relevance of science education to their future academic and career opportunities.

5. Impact

The seminar contributed to strengthening learners' academic knowledge and confidence in Biology. By providing students with additional learning opportunities beyond the regular classroom environment, the activity helped reinforce their understanding of science and encouraged them to take a more active role in their education.

The initiative is particularly important for learners who may face challenges accessing additional academic support and learning resources.

Through the One Child, One Future: Educate to Liberate initiative, Good Cause Foundation Uganda is committed to ensuring that children and young people have access to educational opportunities that enable them to develop the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their full potential.

In the long term, initiatives such as this Biology Seminar can contribute to:

7. Challenges and Unmet Needs

Despite the success of the seminar, many learners in Uganda continue to face challenges that affect their academic performance, including limited access to learning materials, inadequate academic support, and limited opportunities to participate in supplementary educational activities.

There is a continued need for resources and partnerships to expand academic seminars, provide scholastic materials, support teachers, and reach more learners in underserved communities.

8. Next Steps

Good Cause Foundation Uganda plans to continue expanding the One Child, One Future: Educate to Liberate initiative by organizing more academic seminars and educational support activities for learners across Uganda.

The Foundation aims to strengthen partnerships with schools, teachers, education stakeholders, donors, and development partners to improve access to quality education and create opportunities for children and young people to thrive.
