Music is a universal language that has the potential unit people holding different culture and believes systems. Music can therefore play a great role in effectively communicating the values that could lead to sustainable lifestyles. One of the major challenges of sustainable living today is related to environmental degradation, which comes about through pollution, deforestation and other actions that threaten a healthy environment. Although environmental challenges may be locality specific, they have a global effect. Thus, developing strategies that can brake locality constrain can go a long way to ensuring environmental sustainability.
RCESD through the MUSIC FOR ENVIRONMENT PROJECT, continues acknowledges the fact that music plays an important role in effectively passing on information in a way that trigger individuals to be conscious about healthy lifestyle. We also ascertains that celebrities such as major urban music artists are opinion leaders for the public and have the power to take the public attention to a certain subject. Thus, their support and participations is significant to reach masses and affect their attitudes positively on social issues.
In this line, RCESD in collaboration with Camergreen Ambassador Lesline EwiMbong and other three top urban music Cameroonian artists including Blaise B, Ewube and Magic in the last 3 months to write and sing a song about sustainable lifestyle in Cameroon. The message in the music focuses on the need to preserve the environment. The music also advocates for the need of peace as a requirement for a sustainable lifestyle. The song was composed with title “stand for peace”.
In the following, RCESD and the artist will work to ensure that the song they have composed will be recorded. This will relay on your generous donations and contributions.
