Improving awareness on environmental issues through the use of music can effectively engage more people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle toward the environment. The project aims at promoting 10 music talents across the ten regions of Cameroon through a two week booth camp to develop and present creative and educative content in the form of music. The aim of the project is to influence lifestyles that will contribute to environmental sustainability.
Challenges to environmental degradation in Cameroon are attributed to population growth, limited research, poor capacity in management, corruptions, poor awareness amongst others.Despite the current efforts by the local government and non-profit organizations in the sector of forestry and environment to promote sustainable habits towards the environment in Cameroon, much still needs to be achieved. This implies that there is need for robust and innovative strategies for awareness.
Music is one of the most powerful mediums to communicate environmental messages to billions of people worldwide - irrespective of race, religion, income, gender or age. In this project we suggest that improving awareness on environmental issues through the use of music can effectively engage more people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. The project will train 10 music talents across the ten regions of Cameroon to develop and present creative and educative media content for education and awareness
The project will increase public awareness and build local capacity that will promote behavioural change to local environmental challenges and promote the responsible use and consumption of natural resources. The training and promotion of ten talents through the booth camp will increase local expertise and innovation in environmental awareness raising. The public, being sensitize through the musical outputs will be informed of local environmental challenges and motivated to take action.
