As we embark on our 5th Year Anniversary, we are excited to see our school communities growing and our reach expanding in Los Angeles. Our students are thriving – as demonstrated in their increased musical knowledge, performance, growing self-esteem and motivation - and teachers and parents are sharing how invaluable the music education program is. "Learning guitar has improved my daughter's concentration," shares an ETM-LA Partner School parent, while another shared that music has had both a "social and developmental impact" on their child.
The summer was a busy time as well - we piloted our first Summer Strings program at the Castelar Elementary School and made updates to our curriculum. We also held an intensive week-long Teaching Artist Institute for our teaching artists and interns - led by experts in the field - with workshops on lesson planning, conducting, working with special needs children, vocal and choral teaching, and other pertinent topics.
We are grateful for your continued support to expand Education Through Music-Los Angeles to two new schools last year – Norwood & Carson Gore Elementary (formerly Pio Pico Span). This year ETM-LA will add an additional 10th public partner school, expanding our reach to over 2,500 schoolchildren. We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
