We are grateful for your continued support and want to share how your donation has been put to work! As the school year winds down, we reflect on the tremendous growth of our students this past year. Over 2,000 students gained deeper knowledge and increased skills on their instruments and proudly showcased their skills during their year-end concerts. Castelar Elementary School's graduating 5th graders now boast higher percentages of students interested in Middle School Orchestra/Band, while 100% of St. Sebastian School's graduating 8th graders are being accepted into high schools. Our partner schools embraced professional development workshops this past semester, and teaching artists demonstrated visible growth as music educators through creative lesson planning and their students' successful performances. Also with your support, we expanded to two new partner public schools - Pio Pico Span and Norwood Elementary Schools.
As the Los Angeles Unified School District tragically plans to eliminate 100% of all arts instruction in elementary public schools by 2012, beginning with 50% next year, ETM-LA is committed to working alongside our communities and school principals to restore music as part of every child's well-rounded education.
We thank you for your dedication to giving at-risk youth equitable opportunities for their future!
