TEENAGE MOTHERS KNITTING EMPOWERMENT REPORT
The 6-month knitting empowerment program, organized by the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation, was conducted to equip 10 teenage mothers with practical knitting skills and entrepreneurial knowledge. The program commenced on June 3, 2024, following the inauguration of participants on May 28, 2024, and concluded successfully on December 4, 2024. Please see pictures of training beneficiaries below
Training Structure
The participants attended practical knitting sessions three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Each session was designed to cover both foundational and advanced knitting techniques, including creating patterns, garment finishing, and producing high-quality knitting projects.
To complement the technical training, entrepreneurial skills were offered to prepare participants to monetize their skills and operate sustainable knitting businesses. This training covered;
Managing finances for small businesses.
