A set of washable, reusable sanitary pads was given to each menstruating girl at Shree Janajyoti Basic School, located in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, Jhapa district (about 460 km east of Kathmandu). Total 80 sets of washable, reusable sanitary pads were distributed. Along with the pads, informational leaflets about menstrual hygiene management in the local language was also provided.
The sanitary pad sets were handed over to the school club representatives and the principal. It was distributed by organizing a small event at the school.
Mr. Ghanashyam, the school principal, noted that providing reusable sanitary pads, along with orientation on menstruation, its management, and proper pad use, is highly beneficial for improving the personal hygiene practices of adolescent girls.
