ECCA has been conducting various programs in Punma village located in Jajarkot district in Mid-western region of Nepal. In addition to other activities (related with safe drinking water, conservation education, etc.), priority is also given for proper menstrual hygiene management of girl students.
In rural areas, girls and women normally use sanitary napkins they themselves make at home from old torn clothes, which may not be hygienic many times. Because of unhygienic condition, girls/women suffer from diseases many times.
To address such situation, ECCA trained local women to make re-usable washable sanitary napkins, which can be used for more than a year. These sanitary napkins are then provided to the school girls, thereby improving their health.
Sewing machine was provided to Ms. Sita to make re-usable washable sanitary napkins locally. We thank you for the support.
