School outreach at May Christian Secondary School
School outreach at May Christian Secondary School

During this reporting period, a school outreach was conducted at May Christian Secondary School to provide essential health services and menstrual hygiene education to students.

Key Activities and Achievements

A total of 465 students were reached with information on menstrual hygiene and management.

Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Sessions: Students participated in interactive sessions focused on proper menstrual hygiene management (MHM), debunking myths, and promoting confidence in menstrual health.

Selection of Menstrual Health Champions: Five female students were identified and trained as Menstrual Health Champions to provide peer support and mentorship on menstrual health matters within the school.

Distribution of Menstrual Cups: A total of 124 menstrual cups were distributed to girls, accompanied by detailed guidance on safe use, maintenance, and hygiene.

Teacher Training on MHM: 5 teachers underwent specialized training in menstrual hygiene management, equipping them with knowledge and skills to support girls in their schools.

Celebrating Women’s Day at Entebbe Girls Secondary School

We celebrated the International Women’s Day with Entebbe Girls Secondary School under the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress." Empowering girls starts with education and health—including access to proper menstrual hygiene. When girls have sustainable menstrual products, they stay in school and thrive. Investing in menstrual health is investing in their future.

Menstrual Health Education: Students engaged in discussions on menstrual hygiene management (MHM), breaking myths and misconceptions around menstruation.

Training on Proper Usage and Hygiene: Practical sessions were conducted on the safe and hygienic use of menstrual cups, ensuring that girls understood how to use and maintain them.

Distribution of Menstrual Cups: 200 menstrual cups were distributed to students, providing them with a long-term, cost-effective solution for managing their periods.

By investing in menstrual health, we are not only improving education outcomes but also advancing gender equality and reproductive health key pillars in the empowerment of young women and girls in Uganda.
