Menstrual Cups Project - Third Quarter Report

By Moses Odongo | Team Leader

During the reporting period, we distributed 56 menstrual cups,  leveraged school engagements to reach 325 learners with correct informarion on menstrual hygiene management and trained15 teachers on menstrual hygiene management.

We have leveraged online platforms to increase awareness about menstrual hygiene and management. Our social media advocacy has spread valuable information on menstrual hygiene and destigmatizing menstrual health discussions. Through engaging posts, informative graphics, we have received questions about the menstrual cup and people showing interest in understanding how they work giving us an opportunity to clear all misunderstandings they have through online Q&As.

To increase our advocacy and support young girls in maintaining menstrual health, we have organized two school outreaches scheduled for December 2024 and February 2025. These events will focus on popularizing the menstrual cup and other reusable products, correct use of menstrual cups, and open discussions to burst myths and misconceptions around cups

We have received positive feedback from students and guardians who have adopted menstrual cups highlighting increased comfort, improved confidence, and improvement in attending school during menstruation. Testimonials like; “The menstrual cup has made school attendance much easier because I feel protected throughout the day” reflect the project’s positive impact on students' lives.

During a musawo session with women and girls, journalists recommended that we include men in our MHM advocacy as a way to destigmatize menstrual health discussions. There are many single fathers who don’t know the basic information about periods and engaging them in our health talks would help end period stigma.
