Introduction
Family MMedical Point is seeking for support through GlobalGiving to introduced menstrual cups as a viable alternative to enhance MHM practices among adolescent girls in fishing communities in Wakiso district in Uganda. By addressing the challenges that hinder girls' attendance in schools during their
menstruation days, the project will empower girls with knowledge and long lasting solution to menstrual hygiene needs - the menstrual cup - ultimately contributing to improved education outcomes.
Progress Update:
During the last quarter, the implementation team kick started the preparatory activities. Full implementation of the project has not commenced as the fundraising has not realized the expected funds that would support procurement of menstrual cups.
Completed Activities:
1. Mapping of Partner Schools: Our implementing team mapped 20 schools across the fishing communities in Kasenyi, Kigungu, Nakiwogo and Kavundira fishing landing sites.
2. Brieifing of Local Leaders: We brieifed area local leaders in preparation for the implementation of the project. The local leaders were receiptive and offered to support implementation of the project. School management committies were also briefed on the upcoming implementation.
As we look forward to generous contributions to make this project become a reality, our implementing team will this month complete the development of infographics to support the beneficiries easily understand how to use menstrual cups.
