Hello everyone and wishing you a very Merry Christmas this Holiday Season! As we wrap up 2016 and plan for an even brighter 2017, we would like to say a heart felt thank you for your continued support of Aspen. She is so much more than a project! She is an investment in those affected by sexual assault.
At the office, Aspen will average up to 5 clients a week. Upon arrival, she knows exactly where she is and what to do. She has become so acclimated with her schedule, she will anticipating certain client "arrival." She will sit by the window in the office and watch for the client's car to pull up into the parking lot. Once she sees them, she goes directly to the door and waits for the bell to jingle. Her furry, adoring face is truely the first thing the clients see and they are just so over joyed to spend time with her. I always tell them; "you are one of her favorites."
Aspen is performing many of her supportive techniques without commands with clients that are familiar. She knows who needs a lean and who sits and wants her in the home position for nurture time. As her owner and handler, I know I can be a bit biased but she continues to surprise me everday!
Aspen is signed up for some continued education. Her class series starts on January 3, 2017 and runs for 6 weeks. We will just continue to sharpen her skills and work on some basic manners. Aspen is not 2 years old yet and won't be until February 26, 2017. So, she is still a puppy and can act like one from time to time. :)
Program development: we are pulling together an advisory committee to aid us in the material development stage of "Paws Off" our origianl anti-violence campaign. We will spend the first quarter of 2017 recruiting and developing the advisory team before moving into the next stage of development. I will keep posting regular reports on our progress as we continue to work towards this goal.
Lastly, Aspen has a few new co-workers! Fair Haven welcomes Rebecca Emerson, LaToya Griffith, Emily ImRich and Nyohmi Buzo to our Crisis Intervention department. As you can see in the attached photo, they all really enjoy working with Aspen!
Thank you again for your support. This project receives no other funding but through Global Giving. Each and every donation goes directly into growing our efforts in proviing Animal Assisted Therapy services to victims of sexual assualt.
Wishing everyone a very Happy 2017!
