Hello,
Hope this report finds you in good health and spirit.
Back here in India, we surpassed the second wave of the pandemic. We cautiously opened to visitors, as our highest priority was the health of our staff so we could continue to care for our animals uninterrupted.
The second wave slowed down our adoptions to a certain extent, although we continued to find homes through our home adoption initiative, where all the pre adoption procedures were done virtually and then the pups & kittens were dropped to their new homes, keeping all safety precautions in place. Follow ups & guidance calls continued to ensure that our animals got the happy ending they rightly deserve. We recently hosted our first offline adoption event, as we wanted our pups to have every chance they could get.
In terms of trauma care, we had our hands full, as there were not many animal shelters working through the pandemic. Thanks to your generous contributions towards our medication expenses, we managed to pull through.
During the lockdown, we also received many calls of orphaned pups & kittens.
Neonates of any species are among the most vulnerable and if they are motherless, the situation is very grim. CARE has the only neonatal facility for pups and kittens in the city and we try our best to save each little life. The most important thing a Neonatal unit requires is a good Incubator which can maintain the required temperature and oxygen levels so vital to saving a life.
So far, we were using incubators meant for human babies, but we managed to procure 2 incubators specifically designed for pups & kittens that cost us around 4000 $.
With the upgraded neonatal unit, we need funds for the running of this much needed, extremely important facility that has the potential to save many lives. The average cost of that would run up to about 270 dollars a month wich would cover feeding bottles, Goat Gold milk replacer powder, Lactol, Cerelac and other similar items used for these puppies. The cost of running this for the entire year would be about 3,240 $.
We hope to raise it soon and run our upgraded neonatal facility saving the lives of these tiny creatures. Every life counts.
Thank you again for your support.
