Project Report | May 11, 2022
Matinza Primary School Fundraising Update

By Carolyn Brown | Project Manager

This quarter, while we have faced some challenges due to Covid, we have slowly been making our way to the fundraising goal through the help of individual donations. This quarter, our team attended different events to highlight the work we are doing to promote education in Africa, including attending a panel discussion as a guest speaker to highlight the state of education-related sustainable-development goals as well as the fundraiser we are hosting for the Matinza Primary School project.

As we continue to raise funds, we have been working on applications for grants and co-financing opportunities. In addition, we are planning fundraising events, free of cost, to raise money to complete construction and the first phase of the project. One of the first of these events will be held via Zoom on May 28th, where we will discuss the challenges, successes, and innovations for schools on the African continent. Three guest speakers, including the principal of the Matinza Primary School, will be sharing their experiences and opening up a discussion for attendees. We will be sharing the link for donations and hope to raise funds during the time of this event. Follow the Centre for African Justice, Peace and Human Rights on social media for updates related to this event, as well as other opportunities to get connected with us!
