MASOOM
Masoom is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing and supporting quality education in Night Schools. Masoom’s mission is to enable Night Schools’ students achieve their full potential through educational and policy support, leading to better skills and jobopportunities.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Masoom launched the Tech on Wheels Project to help Night school students to explore their passion for science and technology. The project helped students to have access to computer technology, gain increased self-confidence, , and sharpen their design-thinking skills besides the development of new attitudes towards modern-day technology. Tech on Wheels allows Masoom to extend these benefits to thousands of night school students inMumbai.
TECH ON WHEELS BUS
The Tech-On-Wheels Bus is enabling Masoom offer IT courses to a much larger number of students. The Tech on Wheels Bus is also providing Night Schools’ students with access to computers, online resources, and innovative educational programming which will open the door to bright future. Besides all of this, Tech on Wheels Bus acts as a unique platform for learning as well. The bus with the access to computers enables students to enter a larger world of reference material and self- study, particularly when it comes to science andtechnology.
Bus is helping to develop computer literacy and 21st century skills in the students which are a must for a promising career. Students are more equipped to seek higher education as well. Tech on Wheels bus provides computer access to up to 28 students per class and 170 students per month from day & night schools (120 from day schools & 50 from Night Schools).Masoom, which already provides educational support to over 3500 night school students in Mumbai, is now able to serve many more students per year with the Tech on Wheels Project. These students would otherwise be deprived of computertraining.
MISSION
Enable day and night school students from underprivileged background to achieve their full potential through education in the technology sector for better skills and job opportunities.
CORE OBJECTIVE
To build a platform for creating technological foundational skills in day and night school students from underprivileged background and create awareness among them about the information technology sector and enabling them to choose a career path going forward.
Project updates
In 2019-20, total 171 students (73male and 98 female) from Municipal day schools were trained in Graphic Designing & Web designingcourses.
In 2019-20 total 133 students (76 male and 57 female) from night school received training in Basic Computers & Web Designingcourse.
The Tech on Wheels organized students “Exposure visit” to “Pal India Computer Education”. As the students were trained in advance curriculum in Web designing and Graphic designing, it was necessary for them to understand opportunities in the related field and get exposure to the work place environment. The visit provided them exposure to few advance tools in graphic design or web design. They were able to interact with persons working in the field. Total 142 students were present for the exposure visit.
Way Ahead (2020 -21)
Tech on wheels will cover total 2400 students across 50 day schools and 25 night schools. 1650 students from day schools and 750 students from night schools will be trained in2020-2021.
Tech on Wheel will upgrade its curriculum by adding new topics such as Computer Hardware, Graphic & ArtificialIntelligence.
Soft skills course will be implement in the Night schools along with computercourse.
Monitoring & Evaluation dashboard for tech on wheelsproject.
Masoom will tie up with at least 1 externalpartner.
A new bus for Nagpur is proposed.
