MASOOM

Masoom is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing and supporting quality education in Night Schools.  Masoom mission is to enable Night Schools’ students achieve their full potential through educational and policy support, leading to better skills and job opportunities.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Masoom, in partnership with Level Up Village (LUV), launched the Tech On Wheels Project to help students especially from night schools to explore their passion for Science & Technology. The project intensified to help students for enhancing their confident level, to access computer technology, online resources and to sharpen their design-thinking skills besides the development of new attitudes towards the advanced technology of modern era.

TECH On WHEELS BUS - The Tech On Wheels Bus is enabling Masoom and LUV to cover large number of students under LUV courses. Masoom finds an interesting fact that “Tech on Wheels” has positive impact on students’ performance in night’s school (Where tech on wheels project runs), particularly in the subject of Science, Maths and English Communication etc. Introducing technological tools in the field of education has enhanced the quality of teaching and learning in schools and so as to help learners to achieve success. The bus allows students to enter into a larger world of reference material and self-study. Tech On Wheels bus provides computer accessibility up to 24 students per class and 144 students per week.  Masoom, which already provides educational support to over 5000 students in Mumbai through 60 night schools, is now serving many more students per year through the Tech On Wheels Project. Otherwise these students would have never been able to receive such computer training.

During the Tech on Wheels Computer Literacy Program, Masoom contemplated ideas to generate revenue. The conceptualization of these ideas is to gain concrete shape and hence for the sustainability of the project. So, Masoom has partnered with two organizations --‘Salaam Bombay Foundation’ in Mumbai and ‘PremSevaMandal’ in Kalyan. We are imparting the Science and Technology curriculum to the students of these organizations. Masoom charge fees instead of the service. Masoom is also in process of finalizing plan for more organizations from Mumbai who are very much interested to start tech on wheels classes for their children’s.

Masoom has partnered with Salam Bombay Foundation to provide computer education to Day School students. Masoom has provided Web and Graphic design courses to total 162 students through 2 Tech On Wheel buses, from which 50 students from Gauridatt Mittal School have completed Web & Graphic Designing in Tech On Wheel bus 1 and 112 students from Prabhadevi Municipal School completed Graphic Designing in Bus 2.

Way Ahead

  1. Reach to 4 more schools covering around 100 students and 6 night schools covering 120 Students.
  2. Introduce new courses to the students like 3D printing.
  3. Tie-up with 4 more organizations to target more number of students.
