Maria's orphanage was damaged by a recent earthquake. As they strive to recover, the government has initiated load shedding the electricity. This means certain areas of the country have no power for days, then may have it for a few hours...they never know.
This makes it impossible for Maria's kitchen to prepare food for sale. It has become a place to sell snacks only and income from this is very low. The food truck is a wonderful idea but right now we need to focus on other ways to help Maria and her children.
Maria’s project is very important to us, it provides the means for them to become self sufficient. With all the setbacks happening in South Africa, it continues to be very very difficult for them to survive.
We are hoping to start something new in the future. Maria’s children need so much, we will continue to help them through our mission trips. Each year AAI sends a group to South Africa to bring aid, meet, greet and play with the children, and try to do at least one project to improve their lives. You can find out more about this trip at www.airlineamb.org.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has helped with this project.
