Have you ever fed a melon to an elephant or lettuce to a giraffe?
Because of donors like you, providing hope to children battling critical illnesses through your support of Make-A-Wish® Oregon, Savannah’s wish came true. She now knows the simple joy of being a skilled zookeeper for the day, a wish that brought much-needed smiles to her entire family, and more than a few tears to the big-hearted volunteers at the Oregon Zoo who stepped in to make this wish day so very special.
In her short life, this spunky five-year-old has endured more procedures and tests than most adults. She has had to bravely face so many doctors and healthcare professionals and trust that they are doing their best to help her fight cancer. We often say, a child does not get cancer, the whole family gets cancer. Allowing her to bring her siblings along for the magical wish day was healing for all of them. We could not do it without you and your ability to show up for these kids.
Wishes take all of us pulling together for the common goal of bringing life-changing joy to kiddos who really need it. If we have learned one thing in the past few years, we know that hope is truly essential. Your support allows us to continue to provide hope, strength, and joy to children and families in our community going through the unimaginable, including the more than 340 local children currently waiting to experience the healing power of a wish.
