One Year On: From Emergency to Recovery
It has been one year since the war on Lebanon began, one year of relentless service, compassion, and courage from every Lebanese Red Cross volunteer and staff member.
While a ceasefire has now been set, many communities across Lebanon, especially in the South, are still living the aftermath. The Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) continues to stand beside them, providing essential medical care, relief assistance, and hope as they begin to rebuild their lives.
Our Impact to Date (as of mid-2025)
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters and donors worldwide, the Lebanese Red Cross has reached hundreds of thousands of people affected by the conflict.
Here is what your contribution made possible:

A Story of Survival: Abou Hassan
When an airstrike hit his building in Saida, everything Abdelhamid Ramadan, known as Abou Hassan, had ever known collapsed around him. His home, his memories, his family’s laughter, all buried in the ruins.
That day, the attack was one of the most devastating attack our teams had ever faced. Trapped under the rubble, Abou Hassan and his son were fighting for their lives.
For twelve long hours, our Urban Search and Rescue team worked relentlessly, digging, lifting, and listening through the dust and destruction. Finally, they pulled Abou Hassan and his son out alive.
He survived, but not everything could be saved. In the silence that followed, Abou Hassan found the strength to hold onto life, and to the memory of those he loved most.
Once rescued, our ambulance service teams took over, providing urgent medical care and ensuring they reached the hospital safely.
One year later, Abou Hassan’s story still stands as a powerful reminder of what your support makes possible. Because behind every life saved, there is someone like you, giving our teams the strength, training, supplies and equipment they need to keep going.
