This support will help the Lebanese Red Cross respond to ongoing war in Lebanon by addressing vital humanitarian needs. Our teams focus on ambulance response, providing blood to treat the wounded, offering primary healthcare services, and relief for the more than one million displaced persons.
Since the 8th of October 2023, Lebanon has been subjected to daily air strikes. Since the 17th of September, this has escalated into a major war with more than 8000 casualties, and more than 1600 dead. More than in the entire July 2006 War. At least 1 million persons have now been displaced and the situation is worsening every day. The wounded need ambulance services and blood, the refugees need shelter, food, primary healthcare, hygiene kits, blankets and mattresses.
The Lebanese Red Cross is the largest volunteer based local humanitarian organization. Its response is focused on: 1. Ambulance response & Search and Rescue. 2. Providing blood units to all patients and hospitals who need them 3. Providing physician consultations, medications, tests and psychosocial support to the displaced 4. Providing shelter, food, hygiene items, blankets and mattresses to refugees
This support will save lives through ambulance response and blood units, and also allow to alleviate the impact of this catastrophic war on the directly affected persons through primary healthcare support and relief.
