Near 125 under-resourced indigenous children from Mitu -the most isolated capital city in Colombia- have enriched their learning processes because now they have access to learning resources and materials that help them to develop higher thinking skills and foster the active and cooperative learning processes promoted by the Escuela Nueva (EN) model.
With the funds received for this project, along with other resources from the Ministry of National Education, we were able to deliver two sets of didactic materials (like a globe of the world, a chess game, a set of logical blocks, a stopwatch, and colorful building blocks for kids, among other resources) to targeted rural schools of Mitu.
The training process on strategies of the EN model, aimed at nearly 30 rural teachers of the region, is over. They are now applying the acquired knowledge to transform the conventional way of learning, and putting into practice valid principles of modern educational theory through concrete, simple strategies that promote active, participatory, cooperative, and personalized learning centered on the learner.
We believe in continuing these joint efforts to provide solutions and proven resources that can have a positive impact on rural children’s education. We deeply appreciate your support and invite you to keep donating and joining forces for good!
