Learning resources for Colombian schools report

Mitu is a small city in Southeastern Colombia, in the Amazon Basin, that lies next to the Vaupes River. Because there are no roads connecting the town to the rest of the country, Mitu is considered the most isolated capital in Colombia. Last semester we carried out in Mitu a special training process on strategies of the Escuela Nueva Activa (ENA) model, aimed at nearly 30 rural teachers of the region. ENA is a pedagogical model that transforms the conventional school and way of learning and puts into practice valid principles of modern educational theory through concrete, simple strategies that promote active, participatory, cooperative, and personalized learning centered on the learner.

With the funds received for this project, along with other resources from the Ministry of National Education of Colombia, we were able to provide additional learning resources and materials to five rural schools in Mitu, benefiting approximately 125 under-resourced children (mostly indigenous).

Last December, we delivered to six teachers a set of didactic resources, each one made up of 20 elements, that this year will encourage the development of students' creativity and higher thinking skills and foster the active and cooperative learning processes promoted by the ENA model.
