We are deeply grateful for your generous contributions to Yahweh Jireh, a vital lifeline for the community of Nababeep in the Northern Cape. Your support has made a significant impact, and we are excited to share the progress made possible by your generosity.
Yahweh Jireh, led by dedicated project leader, Frances, is committed to transforming the lives of children and women affected by substance abuse, gender-based violence (GBV), and sexual offenses. Her community based organisation offers essential life skills training to children and provides crucial support to women who have endured abusive relationships.
Thanks to your donations through GlobalGiving, we have provided Frances’ organisation with a Mama Mimi oven and the necessary ingredients to launch a new initiative. This initiative aims to empower women who have survived abusive relationships by providing them with the training to bake and sell their products, thereby creating a sustainable source of income and a path to independence.
Nababeep is a former mining town where the withdrawal of mining companies post-1994 left many residents unemployed and struggling with substance abuse, particularly among the youth. Although the mines have reopened, the community still faces significant challenges. Political infighting means that job opportunities often go to those with connections, leaving many unemployed. The widespread issues of substance abuse have even affected small children, and single parenting is prevalent, with many children being raised by their grandmothers.
Says Frances: “Your contributions have provided more than just an oven; they have given hope and a chance for a better future. The women in our community are eager to begin their training and start their journey toward financial independence.”
Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us make a real difference in Nababeep. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient community.
With heartfelt gratitude.
