By Erasto Walter | Trainee, Hot Sun Foundation Advanced Film Project
My name is Erasto. I graduated from Hot Sun Film School in 2011. I am currently a freelance filmmaker. I mostly get camera and editing jobs. I worked for USAID for 6 months as a photographer and videographer thanks to the practical training offered at Hot Sun Foundation.
One of the best decisions I have ever made was to join Hot Sun Foundation. The skills I acquired there have helped me become financially stable. My training at Hot Sun Foundation has expanded my horizons by enabling me to travel and to meet some very influential personalities.
I am back at Hot Sun Foundation now as a camera person on the Advanced Film Project. This is my first major film. The other films I have worked on were short films. This project is really going to test my stamina.
We are using advanced equipment that I am really excited about because knowing how to use a gimble and go pro camera elevates my skill set and sets me apart from the average camera person in Kenya.
I am privileged to be a part of the Hot Sun Foundation Advanced Film Project. The script is awesome and I do not think there has ever been a movie like this made in Kenya. This project is going beyond limitations in the Kenyan film industry.
Without support of global givers like all of you, I wouldn’t be here today. Your support made it possible for me.
But what about all the other youth, coming behind me, wanting the same opportunities? What about them? They will be left out with no filmmaking training opportunity without your support.
More support than ever is needed. Hot Sun Foundation’s major grant ends THIS YEAR…
So it’s over to you… to provide MORE filmmaking training opportunities for MORE youth like me!
Donate any amount at www.goto.gg/3632
Thanks!
Best wishes to you and your families in the holiday season.
