By Matthew | Kibera Film School trainee
My name is Matthew
I came all the way from my home in the town of Jinja, Uganda to learn filmmaking at Kibera Film School in Nairobi, Kenya. Kibera Film School is unique in all of East Africa, giving youth hands-on comprehensive filmmaking training.
The reason why I joined Kibera Film School is because I want to be a good video editor and camera person…be the best Ugandan filmmaker.
At Kibera Film School, I have met many focused talented souls. I have gotten the chance to interact with caring, talented creatives, who really love what they do. The trainers are willing to share what they know. The experience is fun and challenging.
Scriptwriting has been my major challenge. For my first video project having to come up with a two-minute final script that tells a story has been a challenge, but I am on the right track.
How would I describe Kibera Film School in three words? Encouraging, Unique, Fun.
