Hello there,
We hope this finds you well and inspired. We are excited to share a recap of our students' graduation ceremony and career workshop.
In October 2022, we had our fifth cohort of students from our two partner public schools enroll for in the after-school free IT training. We recorded the highest enrollment since we began this training. Honestly, this is all thanks to you, our sponsors, and donors who keep us going.
After almost a year of participating in the program, 68 students finally graduated out of the 76 students who enrolled. These are students without any experience with the use of keyboard and mouse, but at the end of the program, they were able to create Word and Excel documents, and also code games and projects using Scratch programming. This motivates us to do what we are doing and empower more students in rural areas of Ghana with digital skills.
In September 2023, we held a graduation ceremony at our office for these students. They showcased their project works and received certificates. We had lots to eat and drinks and also did some singing and dancing competition.
Mid-August, Helen and Ruby our short-term volunteers from the UK ran a career-themed workshop for our two partner schools. Our main goal was to empower students about the future and the possibilities of what they can do.
We started the workshop with a game of Pictionary where students had to work in teams and guess the career they were drawing, this allowed them to have fun whilst getting them to start thinking about potential career options. Ruby then led part one of the workshop in which students worked in small groups to answer questions about their interests, what their dream job is, and what steps they need to take to get where they want to be. After this, we had a short break before Helen led part two of the workshop which involved students planning and writing out their own personal CV.
The workshop was a great success and we hope it got the students thinking about what they want to do in the future!
