INDIGENOUS WOMEN UNITED FOR RECONSTRUCTION
The COVID 19 pandemic hits our Country, our state of Oaxaca and has reached the Mixe Region, which has forced us to control entry and exit to our community to keep ourselves safe.
Despite everything, this situation has given us the opportunity to apply what we have learned so far and organize ourselves to take care of health, food and take preventive measures.
The production of food in a healthy way has been important, as well as advancing the cultivation of cocoa in our nursery, and as soon as the plants are ready, we have taken them to the plantation in the field. We hope they grow and adapt very well, since they were born here.
The CODICE team has strengthened its ties with organizations and networks to generate information that supports the communities and make visible the problems that are often left out of the forecasts and programs that are generally designed.
CODICE has been accompanying us to have information about the pandemic, inviting us to spend time preparing ourselves within our families, learning more about how to defend ourselves against this threat, improving our health and taking other measures for the care of all family and community members.

MUJERES INDÍGENAS UNIDAS PARA LA RECONSTRUCCIÓN
Informe julio 2020
. Gracias por tu atención.

INDIGENOUS WOMEN UNITED FOR RECONSTRUCTION
Progress report, March 2020
The earthquakes of 2017 affected our homes and our way of life and work. With the accompaniment of the CODICE team and the support of GlobalGiving, we have been making progress, making our wood-saving stoves, maintaining ecological toilets and growing vegetables.
Now we are aimed at improving the economy of our families by growing new products suitable for our climate and living conditions, such as cocoa.
We already had the experience of planting the cocoa plants and we see that they adapt very well, now we have the seed and we was established a small nursery. We are applying our experience and learning more with great encouragement, we want to make chocolate and other products and thus make better use of our resources and obtain economic income.
Thanks for your support.

3rd Report June 2019
During this period we have been advancing in our project, in the work plan that we set out.
The group of thirty families, mainly women, participated in the training in the management and maintenance of wood-saving stoves and ecological baths, as other families have had an interest and have expanded their knowledge with practice.
In the case of vegetables, we have developed natural compounds for the prevention and control of pests and diseases, since we want them to remain healthy and toxic-free. These activities were carried out with the support of children, since they were found on vacation and that helped them to participate and make it very lively.
We are interested in preparing more nutritious foods, with vegetables and the Creole corn that we sow and for this we have cooked together sharing our recipes.
With the support received we have bought seeds, some tools and chicken mesh to fence the orchards and thus be more protected.
We meet regularly to exchange experiences, review progress, receive advice and plan the activities we want to carry out. It is important to mention that the sessions and trainings are conducted in Spanish and in mixe, since the technical partners of the CODICE team are from the region and that makes good communication.
