As a consequence of the earthquakes that occurred in 2017, not only the infrastructure, but also the lives of the women and their families were affected. With the project we intend to reduce vulnerability by generating capacities to face the reconstruction from their own vision, as an opportunity to improve the conditions of their environment and social relations. Training events will be carried out with the "learn by doing" met this, the informed and active participation of women is important.
As a result of the earthquakes that occurred in September 1917, the indigenous mountain communities of the northern region of the isthmus of the state of Oaxaca suffered serious damage. However, due to their isolation, they have received very little attention. This is compounded by the fact that female heads of household are in a condition of poverty and misinformation, which has hampered restoration, also damaging the social fabric.
The project will support the creation of capacities for restoration, in a participatory and informed manner. Organizing for restoration will be encouraged in an organized way, rescuing traditional technologies and using local materials, improved with alternative techniques. Installing samples and providing information and support for self-construction and support management.
In the long term, families will be able to re-establish social relationships and their environment with techniques appropriate to local conditions. They will develop capacities for the prevention and attention of disaster situations in an organized manner. Also, they will know the routes for the management of supports that potentialize their performance.
