We are already halfway through the year and many amazing things are happening, with the help of people like you who want to make the world a better and more equal place for everyone. Thank you very much once again!

As highlights of the last quarter, we carried out 1480 hours of mentoring, 370 activities, and directly impacting 76 social managers.

We also want to tell you a little about the great social entrepreneurs who receive our mentorships and who transform the reality of many beneficiaries, specifically in vulnerable territories.
We begin by telling the story of Guilherme Roberto, a resident of the Zinco favela, in Rio de Janeiro, whose life was transformed by the power of literature. Guilherme has a speech impediment that has always affected his relationships since childhood. His refuge were the books in the school library, where he could spend a good part of his time, interacting with the characters in the stories he read.
Aware of all the benefits that books have brought to his life, he decided, as an adult, to create a project for children and adolescents in his community. However, it is not just any project. It is an itinerant and popular library, called “Livreteria Popular”, which, since 2014, has been traveling around the territory on a tricycle full of stories and adventures. Contain in more than 3000 books that are on display, ready for anyone who wants to borrow them and travel in their imagination. This is how Guilherme facilitates the path to the book for the more than 2,500 young people already impacted, presenting him as an ally to make reading a habit and enrich their knowledge and worldview.
And about you? Do you remember which book marked you and changed your way of seeing the world?

Another super cool social entrepreneur we want to introduce you to is Bruna Enne. She is a 25-year-old girl who decided to help young people who were studying during the covid19 pandemic to enter higher education. But they were very special young people: They are deaf young people from all over Brazil. As Bruna already mastered the Brazilian sign language, she decided to create the “Sinaliza”, a social impact business that is a gamified platform with university preparatory classes. It uses its own teaching methodology with classes already in sign language, which allows for a 60% increase in performance when compared to classes with an interpreter or subtitles. To date, Bruna and Sinaliza have already impacted more than 600 deaf students and more than 20,000 hearing people using the platform to learn Brazilian sign language. In this way, Bruna promotes social inclusion and quality education in Brazil.
Can you imagine how cool it is to be able to talk to deaf people without any barrier? Bruna turned it into reality!

Finally, let us tell you Gabriel and Gustavo story. Two young people who met at university and were very uncomfortable with the fact that Brazil is the fourth largest producer of plastic waste in the world, with around 400 million tons of plastic that often end up in the oceans. In addition to this problem, they also perceived the stigmas faced by the more than 300,000 garbage collectors who suffer from informality at work and other social challenges in the country.
Thinking about solving both environmental and social problems, they created “Um Mundo (One World)” – an impact business that develops recycled plastic plates that are used in building, edifice and architecture projects, as well as other objects such as furnishings. Just in 2022, they recycled more than 1 ton of plastic, also contributing to the generation of income for garbage collectors, contributing to the reduction of environmental and social urgencies.

Where does the waste you produce end up? It can help one person and save our planet.

In addition to these, many stories can be followed on our social networks. Don't miss it!
See you in the next story!!
