Bridging The Gap; Providing Identity For All
Under the pillar of Shanakht (Identity), NOWPDP implements interventions that streamline the ordeal of acquiring Special CNICs for Persons with Disabilities that normally takes up to 12 weeks. This process helps PWDs to become legally recognized as citizens of the State and become eligible for the employment quotas and other government-mandated socio-economic benefits that accompany the acquisition of a Special CNIC, such as concession in education, healthcare, and transportation charges.
Acquiring SCNICs also enhances the visibility of PWDs in the population census which serves as an impetus for the formulation of policies to accommodate the rights of PWDs and pave the way for their inclusion in society by mandating quotas for employment and education. As a result, educational and employment opportunities become more accessible for PWDs – reinforcing the structural changes required for fostering an inclusive society.
As a course of action, NOWPDP organizes One-Window SNIC camps for where all the relevant government departments come under one roof. The PWDs can easily visit the camps as the location is selected to their ease. As a result, the beneficiaries leave camp as legally recognized citizens of the State and are able to avail benefits that it brings along.
NOWPDP is determined to assist PWDs in getting their SCNICs, however, organizing the One-window Special CNIC camps requires significant resources, and it is only through the generous contribution of donors like you that we are able to execute these interventions.
Through your continued support we can work towards ensuring that PWDs get their due representation in the national census and can avail the educational and economic opportunities that they are entitled to.
