NOWPDP recognizes the need for getting persons with disabilities registered in the national database as citizens of the state. By acquiring their Special CNICs, not only can PWDs access the government mandated benefits they are entitled to, but also get accurately represented in the national census thereby reinforcing the impetus for the formulation of policies aimed at accommodating PWDs.
Since June, your donations have allowed us to facilitate 2 PWDs in getting their Shanakht through our One-window Special CNIC camps. The Shanakht intervention covers everything from raising awareness amongst the PWDs and their families about the importance of getting their Special CNICs made which includes addressing the prevailing taboos associated with disabilities along with informing them about the benefits that the acquisition of SCNICs entail.
The One-window camps expedite the process of SCNIC acquisition by bringing all the relevant government departments under one roof. By the end of the day, the PWDs walk out of these camps as legally recognized citizens of the State who can now pursue better educational and economic opportunities.
Although NOWPDP is determined to assist PWDs in getting their Shanakht, organizing the One-window Special CNIC camps requires significant resources, and it is only through the generous contribution of donors like you that we are able to conduct these interventions.
Through your continued support we can work towards ensuring that PWDs get their due representation in the national census and can avail the educational and economic opportunities that they are entitled to.
