Your donations have replaced Gordon and Tiana's appliances and drywall on the walls and ceilings in all 3 bedrooms, hallways, entrance way and living room. The Methodist Disaster Relief Team of Kansas City, Kansas volunteered to hang, mud and tape the drywall in Gordon's home. The Methodist Disaster Relief Team will continue to work (collaborate) with the American Homeless Families Foundation to complete the repairs needed in Gordon's home.
Gordon's Mom and Dad wanted to say Thank You to the American Homeless Families Foundation and the volunteers for helping their son replace the appliances and drywall, so they cooked up a lot of fresh catfish (that he caught himself), fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw. After the fish fry, their 14 year old daughter, Amelia gave a heartfelt speech that had everyone in the room crying. She said "I know I'm only 14 years old and I don't really know what's going on. But I do know that I have walls now. Oh my God I'm going to cry." With tears rolling down her face she continued to say "I want to Thank all of you for helping my family. We can't do it ourselves, we don't know how. So I want to say Thank You from the bottom of my heart!"
Our next task is to replace the electrical panel, add an outside disconnect, replace all recepticles and switches to bring the house back into code compliance. Then we need to replace all the cabinets and drywall in the kitchen and bathrooms. After that we will replace the flooring and paint all the walls and ceilings.
With the help of the Methodists volunteer team, we are keeping costs as low as possible, which makes your donations go a lot farther in the completion of Gordon's home repairs.
In order for us to continue the repairs on Gordon, Tiana and Amelia's home, we ask that you donate and watch the video's in our next report, of your donations at work. Your donations are bringing tears of happiness to Gordon, Tiana and Amelia's face. Just knowing that you cared enough about them to donate to help them repair their Harvey Ravaged home has given them a new found respect of human kindness that they have never experienced before. Tiana says "All that you have done has been a great blessing, we never could have done this by ourselves, Thank You!"
Please donate and ask your friends to donate, so that we can complete the repairs on this Hurricane Harvey Ravaged Home.
Awaiting your donations so that we can continue to move forward on these repairs.
Thank You!
