I spoke with Gordon, wife Tiana and daughter Amelia. Gordon is a Desert Storm Veteran that works for the Danbury, TX post office. Tiana was working at a small local company when Hurricane Harvey hit, but has been unable to return to work, due to a lack of business. And Amelia is a typical 14 year old that loves to play softball, her favorite position is pitcher.
Before Hurricane Harvey this family was living a comfortable happy life. Since Hurricane Havey, their world has been turned upside down. Without the help of Tiana's income, Gordon's income is tapped out paying all the bills. Now struggling paycheck to paycheck.
Gordon applied for FEMA assistance immediately after Harvey. FEMA has inspected their home 2 times already, but on November 17th FEMA informed Gordon that the first 2 inspections were not done correctly. They are now waiting on the 3rd inspector to show up and it's been 3 months already.
This is the story of just one family of many.
