SUMMARY: This project campaign is a life-support focussed on changing people's lives through clean and drinkable water vital for crude oil -inpacted comnunities &a fundamental human right essential for survival,hygiene and sanitation for children and women in 5 communities in Rivers & Bayelsa states Nigeria who are drinking oil-water .The children, women and other vulnerable victims of oil spills dying of cancer and other Petroleum related diseases because of exposure to crude oil.
The Challenge: With over 448 oil spill incidents annually, the spills have caused severe environmental disasters and damage to ecosystems, livelihoods of oil bearing communities and badly polluted their water sources ( rivers,streams, both ground water and surface water) leaving the communities without access to clean water. The most affected are the vulnerable children, women, elders, youths and disabled who have no access to clean water but without choice drink "oily water" which causes
The Solution: EARN wants to urgently kickstart restoration process with water supply to the oil impacted communities to mitigate the plight of poor and suffering victims. We will provide potable water, water boreholes and water treatment facilities for clean water which will impactfully reduce incessant health problems and waterborne diseases in those areas. believe communities' access to clean water will not only save lives but enhance and improve standard of living and reduce poverty.
Long-term impact EARN's urgent intervention efforts will not only mitigate health challenges and reduce diseases associated with oil contaminated water but will scale up quality of life and aesthetics of the environment.
