The goal of this project is to provide safe and clean water to victims of oil spill disasters in the Niger Delta region. The scarcity of safe drinking and clean water has caused the deaths of thousands of residents including unborn babies is a great concern to EARN.
Crude oil when spilled into the rivers, streams, creeks and both surface and ground watet is a poison.
Drinking or exposure to crude oil-polluted water is harmful and dangerous because exposure of individuals to extreme concentrations of carcinogen, heavy metals and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons pose long-term heakth risks.Benzene is a deadly and toxic hydrocarbon commonly found in crude oil.
Cadmiun and lead in heavy metal of crude oil can damage cells of victims on expisure.
Organ danage is caused by drinking or ingesting crude oil-polluted water or substance by victims of spills to cause hematoxic( damage to cells), hepatoxic(severe liver damage and kidney failure) .Drinking oil-polluted water can lead to neurological disorder .
Residents in communities impacted by oil spills are dying slowly as the life expectancy in oil bearing communities is 41 year ..
EARN wants to construct watet boreholes, transport clean water to affected remote areas, provide essential equipment for water storage and other reliefs with support by donors and kind-hearted individuals and organizagions.
Thank you for your support and giving
