Housing For Impoverished Families

Dear Sponsors and Donors,

We would like to share the incredible transformation of Oliver and Tunu—two girls whose lives have been deeply impacted because of your generosity. When we first met them, they were living in extremely difficult conditions. Their home was unsafe, with broken windows, a dirt floor, and no proper ventilation. They cooked on an open fire inside the house, filling the space with smoke, and had no access to clean water, electricity, or proper sanitation. The girls were often sick, malnourished, and lacked even the most basic necessities for a safe and healthy life.

Because of your faithful support, we were able to completely transform their living conditions. Their home was renovated with a proper floor, repaired walls and windows, and clean, safe living space. We provided beds, furniture, and clothing, and built a separate, covered kitchen so they no longer have to cook indoors. Most importantly, we constructed a proper toilet and washroom, restoring dignity and safety to their daily lives. We have now installed the doors and completed all finishing work on the toilet, and we will include updated photos in our next report. We have also ensured they remain in school by covering their fees and continue to support them with weekly food. Today, the girls are healthy, happy, and thriving—often visiting WOW Café where they laugh, play, and simply enjoy being children again.

However, there is still one critical need remaining: access to water. Despite all that has been accomplished, the girls must still walk long distances to purchase buckets of water for drinking, washing, and cleaning. This continues to limit their quality of life and poses ongoing health challenges. Our next goal is to install water tanks and implement a rainwater harvesting system to provide a sustainable and safe water source for their home. This will complete the transformation by ensuring proper sanitation and long-term stability. We are deeply grateful for everything you have made possible so far, and with your continued support, we can take this final step to fully secure their future.

We are happy to report that Oliva and Tunu’s toilet construction project is now on the final leg of completion. The walls have been successfully built, and the structure is standing strong. All that remains is the installation of the roof, sink, and water tank. We are grateful to see how quickly this project has progressed and look forward to sharing photos of the finished facility very soon.

Before this project, the girls and their elderly father were forced to use a dangerous and unhygienic method—balancing on rotten wooden boards over a hole in the ground, with no access to water for washing. This situation exposed them to serious health risks and daily fear. Today, because of your generosity, they now have a clean, safe, and dignified place to use the bathroom and wash themselves. Their lives have completely changed.

Oliva and Tunu, along with their father, send their heartfelt thanks. They have asked us to express their deep gratitude and to say, “May God bless everyone who has made this wonderful thing happen for us.” Your support has restored not only safety and hygiene, but dignity and hope to this family.

We have already begun work on our next project—building a shelter for another impoverished family who were nearly homeless and caring for their elderly parent suffering from diabetes.
