Holidays from Cancer - Where Children Can Relax!

The calendar year 2024 is already a few months shorter and you too are noticing how time is running out. In terms of our work, the first quarter was once again characterised by making ourselves visible through our presence at various events, keeping in touch with our main partners and preparing our fantastic holiday resort for children with cancer for the season.

We would like to share some of the highlights with you.  

OKE-Kinderhilfe donates 3,000 euros to the Harz children's cancer charity

KKF Fels GmbH & Co. KG from Goslar is one of 15 individual companies in the OKE Group and is known for the production of single and multi-component parts for European car manufacturers. The Group's own organisation, OKE-Kinderhilfe, has been financing many projects in Germany and abroad for years. The association was able to hand over a donation cheque for €3,000 to our charity. The money will go towards the Verein für krebskranke Kinder Harz e.V. for the further expansion and maintenance of the recreational facility, which is now almost fully utilised again after the pandemic. 

"Girls' Market" (Mädelsmarkt) Halberstadt - a premiere with great success

Women's power generates donations! We received another great donation in the last few days. The girls' market gives young female entrepreneurs from the region the opportunity to introduce themselves.  Whether beauty, essential oils, handmade bags or jewellery. The entrance fees, stand fees and revenue from the flea market were donated to our association and we received a cheque in the amount of €11,565.

Spring cleaning at our holiday resort for children with cancer and their families

On a Saturday in March, numerous helping hands were mobilised and our facility at Bernsteinsee was brought out of its hibernation. A large container of leaves was raked, slides were repaired, fresh paint was painted and the houses were spick and span - after all, the first family will be moving in this week to recover after a long illness! 

Even though we receive numerous donations, the general willingness to do so is declining somewhat. The economic uncertainty and the wars in Ukraine and Israel make our needs seem smaller. We therefore need all the support we can get and it would be great if we could persuade you and your families, friends and relatives to support us. We would like to thank you in advance.

We would like to thank you for your support of our association for children with cancer Harz e.V.. It has not been an easy year for us as an association, as the war in Ukraine continues and the conflict in Israel has also developed into a war. These major and dramatic events make support for an association here in Germany seem less important, shifting the priority a little. 

The economic situation is also making local companies think about whether a donation to our association is still feasible. For this reason, we are all pleased when there are entrepreneurs who not only support the association financially, but also make it visible through their own company. 

The Silberbach bakery in Wernigerode/Saxony-Anhalt has been supporting our association for many years, not only with the Lottery Ticket Campaign, but also with great catering at the activity camps such as the Maximilian Arnold Wolves Camp, cakes for affected children for birthdays and school enrolments or with its delicious French chocolate cake, which we are allowed to sell at our stand at the Chocolate Festival for our association. 

This year's lottery ticket campaign started on December 1 and lasted until Christmas. Each ticket cost €1 and there were instant prizes, such as one of 10 gingerbread houses, which were baked and decorated by the Silberbach bakery team and children's relatives. After just two weeks, the first 2,000 tickets were sold and the originally planned 10 gingerbread houses were raffled off. That had never happened before!
Baker Silberbach and his team baked another 20 witch houses and also donated 6 photo calendars "Stadtansichten Wernigerode" as a prize, so another 2,000 tickets were sold. A total of €4,300 was donated to the Harz Association for Children with Cancer. Isn't that a great example of support with heart and soul ?

We would like to thank the Silberbach bakery from the bottom of our hearts for this great commitment and are delighted to have Mr. Silberbach and his team at our side as a cooperation partner. 

Let's start the new year 2024 together successfully and with lots of positive energy. If our little Christmas story, which is really true, has inspired you, then we look forward to receiving a small financial donations.
