Prevent HIV-AIDS through Awareness in South Sudan

Thanks for your recent generous gift to Prevent HIV-AID through Awareness in South Sudan project. Your committed to help the needy to get out of poverty is really appreciated by our trustees and those will benefit most – the children!

This Awareness campaign has proved useful to the rural communities. Before this project, it was illegal to talk to people living with HIV in Omilling, ask suspects to take voluntary HIV testing, and victims to declare themselves voluntarily. The communities also discriminated openly against the sufferers. But with your support the trend has changed positively in the past two years. Alone in December 2012 with your contributions four HIV/AID workshops was held, and 75 liter petrol was purchased to power the land Rover for HIV field outreach.

The beneficiaries are eager to see this project progressing. They need your help to keep the campaign running to change the negative attitudes against HIV/AID and the victims.

While our communities had just started to adjust from the shocks and devastation of prolonged civil war, they were yet met by airstrikes and ground assaults launched against South Sudan in the bordering states by Sudan armed forces and militant allies. This brought more unnecessary displacement, vulnerability, anguish and human suffering.

Life in the South Sudan – Sudan bordering states became unbearable as cost of living steadily skyrocketed. While two nations have signed a deal to promote peaceful coexistence, the impact of recent conflict include Abyei has caused humanitarian needs to the affected people.

We therefore, request our partners to continue their support to Hope Ofiriha and more importantly to the needy and vulnerable groups in the communities. We look forward to working with all of you in 2013.

Your commitments to help the needy to get out of poverty are appreciated by our Team and those who will benefit most – the children!

Current donations are totaling $ 7,167 and we only need $ 1750 to reach the goal. The beneficiaries are eager to see this project progressing. With a Land Rover Defender 109 – we can reach rural communities to spread the word “HIV-AIDS” Awareness than before. It added a new value to our transport capacity.

Since a start of this project; two HIV-AID campaigners trained, 150 hard copies of Awareness materials distributed, 5 drum of petrol purchased, 6 jerry-cans of engine oil provided, 48 village workshops held, 60 villagers trained as healthcare helper, and 560 villagers tested for HIV-AID voluntarily to know their status.

Until this project is fully funded we will be sending you quarterly field reports. You will get to know what your donation has helped impact and what we have achieved.
