ECCA initiated School Environment Improvement Program in the year 2000. Experience has shown that enrollment and daily attendance of students increases and is maintained when school facilities (toilets, water, greenery) are improved. Planting local herbs in the open space available within the school complex contributes toward beautification of the school, thereby creating positive impression on the students to come to their school daily. Managing open space also allows students to experience firsthand the process of planting and tending a garden as well as the medicinal values of the planted herbs.
Considering the linkage, now, we have integrated herbal gardening into the school environment improvement program https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/school-environment-improvement-program-nepal/
We have further linked the program with water sanitation and hygiene, teacher training, and developing common vision for the school (by involving school management committee, teachers, parents and the local community).
We thank you for your past support and look forward towards your continued support in the days ahead through the link
