More than a year ago, Shree Kali Devi Higher Secondary School of Lalitpur had a herbal garden flourishing more than any of the schools in Southern Lalitpur. The earthquake however, brought hindrance to the progress. When buildings around the garden collapsed, the garden got destroyed as well.
Now that the school is recovering with classroom reconstruction and re-establishment of comfortable environment for students, the school nature club, students and teachers have jointly started putting efforts to rebuild the garden.
“The garden meant a lot to us. It was a matter of hard work and amount of effort we put that got us sad when we saw it vanish beneath the rubbles”, said a grade eight student. “But we knew someday we would rebuild it again.”
According to the nature club supervising teacher, working in teamwork has created a bonding between teachers and students as well. "Knowing about herbal garden through ECCA counselors and building one was one of the most memorable experiences in 2013", he said with a smile. "I am glad we are creating the garden again" he added.

Students engage through teamwork!
