Border Partners has continued to provide daily meals 5 days a week to the 30 seniors we support through our meals on wheels programs. We recently celebrated six years of the program, with thousands of meals delivered and plenty of birthdays celebrated in our office space since then!
The winter months brought a cold spell to Palomas, meaning a daily hot meal was essential in the lives of many seniors who live alone. Our monthly senior social club also hosted several indoor activities to keep everyone active and healthy through the chillier season.
With the sun coming out Spring around the corner, we are looking forward to helping the seniors we support re-plant their small container gardens. In the fall, the senior social club met to harvest the produce plots located at our office and have come by to visit them in the months since.
Sadly, we must also share the passing of one of the seniors, Jose, who we supported over the last six years and was in attendance at nearly every social club in that time. He has no immediate family in Palomas, so our staff plans to honor his life and the friendship we cultivated over the years this week.
We are grateful for your continued interest in our important work supporting people in the later years of their life, a population who is so essential to community life but who is just as often left behind. Thank you from all of us at Border Partners!
