At Patak Half Day School our school bus and truck program is continuing to provide safe transportation for the at-risk children that attend our school. The regular attendance of our students is made possible due to this program. Without it we could not ensure the children’s attendance to school and thus the education, life skills, awareness, and training they receive. Every morning the bus picks up the students from surrounding villages. At the end of the day, the truck makes two rounds to drop the students off back at their homes.
The school bus has been used often and for a long time. Currently, as well as in the past, it has been taken care of and continuously maintained and repaired for the safety of our drivers and students who use the shuttle service. During this semester, the center has changed 2 tires and balanced the wheels by swapping the front tires to the back and purchasing two new tires for the front. We also changed 1 more wheel nut and replaced 1 pair of wipers. As for the truck, the radiator was replaced, the clutch was checked, and the 2 front tires were also replaced.
After this, we were able to safely use the school bus to pick-up students and parents and take them to MRICRH for a family camp full of fun family activities. The school bus was also used to go on a field trip to Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, and Wat Huai Pla Kang. The truck took students to attend a study tour at the Mae Sai Ten Ethnic Fair at the Tea Oil Plant Research Center. It was loaded with ricestraw, roof and tiles all of which had been donated.
From all the staff and students here at DEPDC we would like to offer a sincere thank you to all our past, present, and future donors. Thank you for supporting our mission to provide free education and free and safe transportation for at-risk children and youth in the border town of Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, Thailand. DEPDC/GMS could not do this without the kindness and generosity of people like you.
