At Patak Half Day School our school bus and truck program is continuing to provide safe transportation for the at-risk children that attend our school. The regular attendance of our students is made possible due to this program. Without it we could not ensure the children’s attendance to school and thus the education, life skills, awareness, and training they receive. Every morning the bus picks up the students from surrounding villages, as well as the Myanmar border. At the end of the day, the truck makes two rounds to drop the students off back at their homes.
In February, the school bus insurance was renewed and in March the Act. of the school bus was also renewed. Before renewing, we fixed the brakes of the school bus because the brakes were stuck. We also repaired the electrical system. This trimester the school bus was used to pick the students up for school as well as transport the students to a study tour at an agricultural organic farm. In addition, the school bus picked up the parents of the students who attended the parent’s meeting at the school.
For this period, the truck’s tire pressure was checked. After that, the teachers and the students worked together to clean and wash the school bus and the truck. They needed a good wash after all the dust and dirt accumulation from the many trips back and forth. The truck was also used to send the students to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Before the start of this semester, DEPDC prepared and checked the availability of vehicles that will be used to transport students to ensure the journey is as safe as possible.
From all the staff and students here at DEPDC we would like to offer a sincere thank you to all our past, present, and future donors. Thank you for supporting our mission to provide free education and free and safe transportation for at-risk children and youth in the border town of Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, Thailand. DEPDC/GMS could not do this without the kindness and generosity of people like you.
