DEPDC's Half Day School (HDS) provides free education to stateless and ethnic minority children from all over Mae Sai District that have no other chance to receive education. We use two trucks, one pick-up truck and one truck modified as a bus, to provide free transportation to our students that would otherwise have no chance to come to school from their villages. Both trucks now need to have major maintenance work done to ensure safe transportation to school for our students.
DEPDC's Half Day School (HDS) has two trucks that are used as school buses. This enables DEPDC to offer free transportation for our school's students. Without free transportation many of our students from villages around Mae Sai would be unable to reach HDS and could not attend any school and receive education. Both trucks need maintenance to keep them operable and safe. Additionally, donation support is necessary for general upkeep (i.e., gas, oil changes, insurance, registration).
Doing the necessary maintenance work, replacing the wear parts, and repairing the damages that occurred during 14 years of intensive use, will ensure safe and reliable transportation for HDS's students. This will make sure that children that can't attend any other school will still have a chance to receive education.
Both trucks (one which has been remodeled into a bus) will enable up to 62 children to attend school and receive a free primary education that they otherwise would not be able to get. Education will help HDS's students to live a self-reliant, safe, and self-determined life in the future.
