To all our generous GlobalGiving supporters,

Thank you for standing with the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa in our mission to end pet homelessness. Your compassion and generosity continue to make a real and measurable difference in the lives of thousands of animals and the families who care for them.

At the beginning of this year, we set ourselves an ambitious target to sterilize 10 000 pets before the end of the year. We are pleased to report that, thanks to your support, our year-to-date total has now reached 4 172 sterilizations. While this represents significant progress, we still have a long journey ahead if we are to achieve our goal.

Every sterilization prevents countless unwanted litters, reducing the number of stray and homeless pets that end up suffering from hunger, disease, neglect or abandonment. Our work extends across the entire Cape Metro an area covering approximately 4 000 square kilometres where the demand for affordable veterinary services continues to grow.

On Mandela Day, 18 July, we will be joining forces with the Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO) to make an even greater impact. Together, we plan to sterilize an additional 134 pets in a single day as part of our commitment to creating healthier communities for both animals and people.

To reach our year-end target, we urgently need sterilization sponsors. Each procedure costs just R500 (approximately US$30 or £23). Whether you choose to sponsor one sterilization or several, your contribution will directly prevent future suffering, prevent unwanted litters and help break the cycle of pet overpopulation.

The challenge remains considerable, but so too does our determination. With your continued support, we know we can make lasting change. Every donation represents hope not only for an individual animal, but for entire communities where fewer unwanted animals means less suffering and greater opportunities for responsible pet ownership.

To everyone who has donated to our Help to End Pet Homelessness project so far, thank you. Your generosity is already changing lives and we are deeply grateful for your confidence in our work.

We still have a long way to go, but we are confident that, with your continued support, we will achieve our goal of 10 000 sterilizations and emerge victorious in the fight against pet homelessness.
