This project is designed to significantly reduce the number of homeless pets left to fend for themselves in hostile environments in the Cape Metro. Our 5-pronged strategy includes humane education, pet sterilization, vaccination, dipping and deworming. Each component not only prioritizes the welfare of the animals but also enhances the health and well-being of entire communities and is of enormous benefit to all animal shelters in the region.
Approximately 22% of South Africa's companion animals (dogs and cats) are considered homeless, according to the State of Pet Homelessness Project. This translates to around 4.05 million homeless pets, with roughly 1.7 million living on the streets and an additional 325,000 in animal shelters.
Our solution entails: Spaying and Neutering Projects: Implementing sterilization projects to control the pet population and prevent unwanted litters. Community Education: Raising awareness about the responsibilities of pet ownership and the benefits of adopting animals from shelters. Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation: Rescuing abandoned animals from the streets, providing medical care, and facilitating adoption into loving homes.
Fewer neglected homeless animals. Healthier communities. Reduction in animal cruelty cases.
