TVW differs from other similar facilities that serve people with developmental and physical disabilities by offering paid training to improve and develop skills. Individuals are assessed and given guidance in areas of need.
Recently, Synopsys donated 10 refurbished laptops to TVW to be used in the training department. Individuals with disabilities are working through programs at their own pace to improve math, reading & comprehension Each person is tracked on their progress and the program is specifically geared to each persons areas of need.
There is also a GED program being offered to qualified individuals on the computer.
The recent purchase of 2 ipads has helped enable disabled individuals to communicate with staff. It has given them a voice.
TVW is forging the trail for a new bright future for people with disabilities.
Other recent happenings at TVW include a partnership with Team Depot, who are volunteers of the local Home Depot. Team Depot came out on two occasions to refinish and paint the lunchroom. In addition, TVW raised funding for new, much needed, lunchroom chairs for our clients with disabilities.
Another recent partnership occurred recently with Guess, they will be donating overstock items, which TVW will distribute to our clients in need of apparel.
